Women in Combat

It looks like my opinion that women do not belong in combat roles is very much in the minority in this post. Well, I stand by that opinion. Men and women are different. And I don't think sending women into combat is a positive thing for women. It's bad enough that men have to do it.

While on this subject, Bobby Allison-Gallimore points out some problems with this InstaPundit item about women in combat.

I think you're not as much in the minority as you think. There are several women expressing negative feelings or substantial ambivalence.

I totally agree with you Susan. I'm one of the minority in Dean's comments as well.

Just my thoughts. Even though I'm a sexist pig, I do believe some women are capable of performing in combat roles. Unfortunately there are very few of them, and under current standards, the ratio of men to women in combat groups would be so lopsided that it creates a whole new set of problems right there. There simply aren't enough combat capable women to go around. The apparent solution would be to lower the standards required in combat roles, but for obvious reasons to any rational person, this is absolutely the worst thing anyone can do. It's like with the Fire Department exams, where forcing them to lower the standards just so they can be more politically correct. Like a Firewoman herself said, "You pass the exams, you can be a fireman or firewoman."

Wih the military, since its strict requirements for combat positions (something I wouldn't pass either) would preclude a majority of women from performing in such roles, the only hard solution is to have no combat positions for women period, or only under special circumstances.
