I just deleted a comment on one of my posts that was nothing but a bunch of links for casinos, pr0n and, um, male member enlargement. The IP was 61.181.5.70. Is this a new, unfortunate trend? Has anyone else gotten one of these comments?
Whatever the case, such comments will be deleted as soon as I'm aware of them and the IP addresses will be banned.
Update (9/30/03): Just tracking back to this post on Troll Alert to make more people aware of this spammer IP.
It was my poor wife who first encountered the email notification of that "comment" on our site!
Is it not maybe one of those p rn spambots that just trolls the web leaving links? Don't know how that stuff works, so don't know.
Yeah, I got one, and blocked it about a month ago....
I find I've gotten more religious spam showing up in my comments so far.
Chinanet Tianjin is the operator of this IP and the entire 61.181.x.x series; I think it's a safe bet that anything originating from there is going to be spam.
I've gotten two Nigerian bank-transfer offers in my comments lately. I really don't like this.
We got the same thing tonight - same subnet on the IP address.
Hope this isn't some new trend.
