Loathsome

How evil do you have to be to hold up a sign like this? Is the anti-war crowd really this far gone? (I won't call them "peace" protesters, because they aren't.) Are this many of them mindlessly anti-American and pro-terrorist? Do they sincerely believe preposterous things like Bush = Hitler?

I mean, you can make reasonable objections to the Iraq war. You can be an extreme pacifist and be against war for any reason, even for self-defense and the defense of others. While I may disagree with you and think your position is untenable, I don't see you as being anything like the scumbags in the pictures linked above. But, like it or not, that is the public face of your cause.

Update: As usual, Lileks says it best. And one more thing: compassionate, loving, peaceful peace activists deliberately and gleefully trample an old lady.

That's infuriating!

I used to be the "Director of Communications" for a local pro-life organization. Once, the only abortion mill in our state was vandalized, and a local talk show host was shortly thereafter on the air excoriating all of the pro-life organizations in the area for not loudly and vehemently condemning this act (despite the fact that all of them were on record as condemning violence of any sort directed against abortionists). Every time an abortionist is killed, or when someone sends threatening letters, or vandalizes an abortion mill, the same cry goes up: the pro-life movement must repudiate this in the strongest possible terms. (And they usually do.)

I'm still waiting to hear an anti-war organization condemn this sort of treasonous action.

Roy,

So am I. I'm afraid we're in for a long wait.

Hi Susan... I saw the pictures of those young college students trampling that old woman yesterday: What glee they took, what joy in the suffering of another, what empty shells of humanity. Hopefully they will regain their humanity and stop negating their social contract with mankind. I wonder if the soldiers in the 'rape of Nanking' took like pleasure? Or the slaughter in Rwanda raised similar passions? The heart of man is desperately wicked.... The righteous are removed, and none take it to heart.

Concerning the entire tenor of yesterdays "peace march": the entire world lies in the lap of the Lawless One. It seems what we as Adams children like to make lists. This sin is worse than that sin sort of thing. What bothers me, is not so much the callousness of this protest but 'why do I' find some political activities acceptable and some not acceptable. Some activities are based solely on destruction or death (aka Hamas), and some are not. Yet all are tainted with the poison of ungodliness. Yesterday was just a foretaste of things to come.
