"They'll know we are Christians by our..."

Random thought for the day:

Have you ever noticed that the Christians who brag about how loving they are (and wag their fingers at the rest of us for supposedly not being loving enough) are about the least loving, most vitriolic Christians you'll run into?

I have.

Update: Okay, I decided to put this entry back after taking it down. For the record, what prompted me to post this was some recent nastiness directed at Dawn Eden. I just thought it was funny how Dawn's critic just about broke his arm patting himself on the back about how loving he is.

Actually, that post was just the last straw. I have witnessed behavior like that many times before.

Yes, the comments on this post will remain closed. And speaking of last straws, I'm going to post a policy on comments in a little while.

Comments

Yes!

Well, sort of. I have noticed that the Christians complaining the most about "their brothers" are the ones that need to be complained the most about. And the ones crying out for more love are the ones least likely to give it.

I also like how some Christians talk about being shunned and hated and turned on yet thinking nothing of telling someone "Go scr*w yourself, you ugly b*tch." And in fact, defend themselves when called on it!

It's called hypocrisy; it's called sin.

Have you had a run-in lately? I'm sorry about that. I feel for you.

Take care.

Hi Jared,

I haven't had a run-in myself lately, but I noticed someone else who did, so that's where the "inspiration" for this thought came from. It's just something I've noticed many times, and I decided to write it down. (Although, I could have a run-in any time now, considering the topic of my previous post.)

I agree with you about the name-calling stuff coming from Christians. I go too far, sometimes, but I don't excuse my behavior. For example, a few weeks ago, I made an uncharitable remark to another blogger in his comments. When I realized that I had hurt his feelings, I apologized. I was ashamed at my behavior. Shame is a really painful thing, but I think it's very necessary.

Hey Mac...NEVER use profanity like that in my comments again!

Jared and Mac, I have deleted your exchange of comments. I don't want that stuff here.

Susan, I apologise, you're not nearly deserving of having to put up with such nastiness here. I'll keep it strictly on my blog.

Apologies once again.

Mac,

Apology accepted.

For the record, I want to clarify that Jared did NOT use profanity in his comment. I simply wanted to delete the entire exchange.

Comments on this entry are hereby closed. I may even delete this entry altogether.
