Semi-Hiatus

I feel that it's time for me to take a bit of a break from blogging for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. I may post some frivolous, fun items here sometimes, so I won't be totally silent. It's just that I've got so many things to do, and I need to quit procrastinating and do them.

For instance, I need to finish a few repairs to my house left over from Hurricane Ivan. Mainly, I need to get my living room, dining room and kitchen repainted, since there are still water spots on the walls and ceilings from the roof leaks. I want to get some other rooms repainted as well. I also need to make sure there's no mold growing in my attic. I don't think there is, but I want to make sure, since I also had some leaking around the fireplace chimney that I recently had fixed. Fortunately, I've still got a little of that insurance money left, plus a home equity line.

I'm going to see about getting some hurricane shutters for my house, although even if I decide to get them, they won't be able to install them until December. I know it's going to be obscenely expensive, but that's what home equity lines are for.

I need to get my car fixed. It has been running hot and has started leaking antifreeze more and more.

I need to finish up work on some websites for my sister -- one professional and one personal.

I also need to clean up the dumping ground for miscellaneous stuff that I call a closet. The same goes for a spare bedroom that is supposed to be a study.

And I've got a bunch of books that I want to read. I may post my thoughts on them if the mood strikes me.

I want to get started again on this project on my faith journal.

So, check back once in a while for an occasional frivolous post or a post about whatever book I'm reading. Other than that, I'm on semi-hiatus for the time being.

I bet you'll feel less bogged down once all the tidying and fixing up is under way. :-)

Enjoy it. We'll all be here when you get back.

(And eek!--thanks for reminding me that I could stand to hoist my posterior off the chair more often and tidy up a little myself.)

Jami & Ilyka,

Thanks! :-) I think the break will do me good.

Susan, I just got to read the comments from the snake homicide. You are so eeeeeevil. If that Aaron neo-maxi-zimdweebie is still out there haunting you blog, this is for him: Bite me. I know my sister is a good and honorable person, and she is probably the most honest soul I've ever known. Sue is only eeeeeeevil because she got to shoot the bastard from hell instead of me!! (excuse language). Sue: You did exactly what I asked you to do, and I would like to commend you for being a damn good shooter. You always were. You hit a barely visable snake four out of six shots, and I DID NOT WANT YOU TO GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO GET A HEAD SHOT!!! You were brave, calm, and accurate----that's my Sis. Aaron: I'm a lefty, socialist democrat. You give militant lefties a bad name. I teach Rhetoric, and I found your arguments were based on biased assumptions that were typically based on liberal ideology. What a sheeple you are! Sue, thanks again. Aaron, go paint your toenails and read some Chomsky, you wuss. (Oh, I'm so sorry that I'm mean to you, macho man.)

Do what you have to. I'm involved in the same sort of necessities. Sounds like the radiator needs replacing. You can pick up some stop-leak at the auto parts store, but that's only a temporary fix. Also look at your hoses and make sure it's not simply a pinhole leak or a loose clamp.

Hi Benny,

I'm glad you stopped by and thank you for defending me and for all your kind words about my shooting abilities. You're making me blush! :-D Remember, you were the one who taught me to shoot, so I owe it all to you. :-) I had never handled a real gun before that. (Benny's my sister, everyone, in case you haven't guessed.)

Hi Bill,

It wouldn't surprise me if the radiator is going. It could be a hose, though...it's hard to tell. I'm going to take it down next week. It's okay to drive for short distances...I won't drive it more than to work and back until I get it fixed.
