Miscellaneous Stuff Worth Reading

I've been too distracted to blog lately, but I've done some reading. Here are some things that I would like to discuss, but I either don't have the time or I can't muster the attention span to do so.

That's all for now. I'll try to check in again later.

Glad to see you're back with a lovely "I'll-round-up-the-crap-so-you-don't-have-to" post. :) Can we throw immigration in here too just for kicks? I'm debating a post on my blog for next week called "Stuff It de Mayo." What do you think, does it have a ring to it? :)

Hi Barb,

Yes, that does have a ring to it, ;-) Immigration...now there's a whole 'nother can of worms. I'm all for legal immigrants who come here to work and be a part of America. However, a lot of the illegals and the activists for them seem to have contempt for America along with a sense of entitlement. I mean, how else can you explain the protesters waving Mexican flags and defacing American flags.

Since Hurricane Ivan, we have had a huge influx of Mexicans in Pensacola. They came here to do roofing work and other things. (In fact, although I hired a local company to replace my roof, the crew that did the work were all Mexicans.) Some people complain about the Mexicans taking their jobs, but the problem is, many Americans are spoiled. They either think they are too good to do certain jobs, or they expect to get paid big bucks for said jobs. And they wonder why Mexicans are getting their jobs.

I was making sarcastic comments to the radio about a month or so ago when the janitors' union in Cleveland went on strike, demanding more money, full health care, etc. Sorry, but unskilled laborer's jobs just do not get a premium salary. Unfortunately, many problems in our country run rather deep and continue generationally. Well, have a good week! :)

Barb,

Some people here at work said a nearby Mexican restaurant is participating in the boycott. They also said that they will no longer patronize that restaurant. I don't eat there anyway because Mexican restaurants scare me -- I know too many people who have gotten food poisoning from those places.

Hmmm. There is a rather good Mexican restaurant near us. I wonder if they are taking part today. The problem we had with them was slow service rather than the food. Oh well. There is supposed to be a march all the way up here in Cleveland Ohio today. Yippee. You know, they are still filming Spiderman 3 really close to where the march is taking place. Wonder if Spidey would swing over and take care of these guys? ;) Hope your day improves!

Barb,

Saint Kansas, another blogger from your neck of the woods, mentioned that they were filming Spiderman 3 close to where he works.

My day is finally improving now that I'm finally getting a chance to be alone and chill out. It's just been a very contentious day -- I overslept and was late for work, people at work were getting on my nerves, I kept arguing with my mother about everything. My dog was even in one of her moods. Sometimes she gets very demanding and if I don't pet her constantly, she starts "sassing" me and gnawing at my hand. So I ended up putting her in her crate. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.
