When It Gets Personal

An absolutely hideous situation: well-known conservative blogger Jeff Goldstein at Protein Wisdom had to endure vile threats against his child by some lefty nutcase named Deborah Frisch. (No, I will not directly link to this monster's blog.) This particular nutcase also happens to be a professor at a university and has written articles defending Ward "Little Eichmanns" Churchill.

Mr. Goldstein's blog is still unavailable at this time because his site is being subjected to DDoS attacks. Apparently, this Frisch creature must have many sympathizers and allies among the "reality"-based community.

Situations like this is why I blog anonymously and why I have a gun.

(Via Beth, who has more about this nutcase here.)

Update: Ms. Frisch must have had a moment of sanity and realized that she was in a world of you-know-what. She has posted an apology on her blog.

Update 2: A few more things...this whole situation brings me back to the subject of this post. I have also noticed that there seem to be very few lefties who are condemning this behavior. Most seem to be ignoring it. Perhaps their strange hatred of Mr. Goldstein outweighs any outrage they would feel at threatening a child. (And yes, saying something like the following is a veiled threat: "You live in Colorado, I see. Hope no one Jon-Benets your baby.") Some are defending it or making a case that it's no big deal. (Like the fellow in the comments to this post.) And others say things like, "Yes, what she said is bad, but Ann Coulter's a meanie too!" Yeah, whatever...

Just remember the line from one of Ms. Frisch's rants that the Anchoress points out: "You aren’t 'human' to me."

Update 3: Via Beth...a bunch of lefties are yukking it up right here and are wondering what the big deal is. Unbelievable. Fortunately, there are some on the left, like Jeralyn Merritt, who still have a sense of decency (although the same can't be said of many of her commenters).

Again I have to wonder about the mental state of our friends on the lefthand side of the sphere when people publish comments that move from insults to threats against children. Protein Wisdom’s site is down, but the comments have been preserved.... [Read More]

Maybe it's my technological ignorance, but couldn't Mr Goldstein just block or ban her IP address? If so, why do you write about "had to endure". Of course, since you have read the comments, you realize that no threats were made.

Okay, so it's Mr. Goldstein's own fault that she posted vile things refering to his child because he didn't ban her? That's ridiculous. I write that he "had to endure" it because it must be awful to just be running a blog and expressing your opinions and attracting some nutcase that says vile things about your family.

Of course, since you have read the comments, you realize that no threats were made.

Yeah, I read what she said. I think her statements speak for themselves. She had a problem with Mr. Goldstein and instead of attacking him, she attacked his family and, yes, made veiled threats against his son. Are you actually defending this craziness? Well, if you are, go do it somewhere else. It is not welcome here.

The wonderful humanitarians at Sadly, No! are playing the moral equivalency game at the moment. I really don't want to post a link, but if you're willing to wade into a moral sewer, they're still on the front page (#2 and #3 last time I checked). Absolutely disgusting.

Hi Ellie Dee,

Unfortunately, I ran across that garbage earlier today. I guess hate trumps everything in certain quarters.

That's really scary, and for more than one reason. Being able to look at a human as not human can lead to abortion, euthanasia, beheadings, genocides. Once you take normal human decency out of the equation, anything goes. Never say, "Never again." Oh, and I'm glad I own a gun too.

Remember this fun? Leftists think nothing of using their own children in the victim games they play, even if they have to make up stuff out of whole cloth. But a "right wingnut" has his child attacked for real by a lefty moonbat and suddenly it's no big deal, just those hysterical righties going off half-cocked, ha ha ha. Typical.

It's all about power to the left. Everything is a weapon, including the innocent. Especially the innocent. It's a standard tactic of Marxist revolutionary warfare. If you attack the innocent you have disarmed your enemy, who, due to the fact that he is more moral (he has morals, in other words) cannot help but have his ability to fight you compromised by his need to divert some or all of his strength to protecting and comforting the innocent victims. And the left is at war with us, make no mistake about that. Like Muslim jihadists, there can be no real truce with us because the very core of their belief system is that there can be no unbelievers permitted to remain; all must submit, or die.

Barb,

I thought the same thing when I read the "You're not human to me" line. It really is the logical outcome from dehumanizing the unborn (abortion), the sick and disabled (euthanasia), etc. Eventually, you end up dehumanizing anyone you disagree with.

Andrea,

Oh, man...I remember that! Yep, typical indeed.

That explains a lot of things about many on the left: the way they carry water for dictators (Castro, Chavez), the way they take up the cause of defending violent criminals (Tookie, Mumia) and the way they coddle the Islamofascists. That also explains why they preach pacifism -- what better way to disarm your enemy than to make him think he's a bad person for defending himself and others.

Susan, I had a very similar thing happen to me this month, not death of a child, but some liberal commenter threatening to call CPS.

Here is the start of it!

The left is anything but compassionate, and sometimes I wonder if they'r even lucid!

Please don't lump us all in together as one. I myself do consider myself a pacifist, because I don't believe that violence is the way to solve anything (and believe me, the majority of sane pacifists struggle with certain issues every time), but sometimes I just want to scream at the top of my lungs at some of the things that come out of some of the blogs (partly the reason that I don't read political stuff).

And I'll have the same argument when it comes to the abortion issue (both sides [not you, just in general] are too focused on demonizing rather then reaching a compromise).

Unfortunately it's the loudmouth idiots that get more coverage (on both sides of the spectrum). Some days I feel that political parties will be the death of us.

Of course I'm not exactly well spoken in current affairs issues nor as qualified to speak about them as much as some of you (I just don't know as much), so I'll just go crawl in to my corner again. ^^

Hi Elena,

Good Lord...the hatefulness in those comments you linked was really disturbing. Is this the same individual from this thread, the one who demanded that I delete all his/her comments? The tone sounds similar.

Oh, and that person better not try and start anything over here. If he/she does, he/she will be punted from here so fast it'll make his/her head spin.

Hi Todd,

Of course I know that not all leftists are this way. And there have been those on the left who have denounced this behavior unequivocally. I'm sorry if last night's comment sounded like I was lumping everyone together. My sister is way to the left of me politically, but we love each other and we get along pretty well these days. We avoid talking politics, but there are plenty of other things to talk about. I have friends who I'm pretty sure are liberal, but I don't discuss politics with them. Politics is really a pretty small part of life. There are many things far more important and lasting.

Hi Susan,

I do not think it is the same person. This one did manage to put up a blog for one day and mentioned two kids and a husband. FYI from your site meter this one is from Maplewood NJ IP 68.45.43.171!

But you are correct about the tome. What is it about the left that they sound so angry all the time?

Posted on July 10, 2006 at 9:51 PM

Hi Elena,

I've noticed the constant anger, too. I know not everyone on the left is like that, but an awful lot of them are. Some on the right are like that, too. I find that if I stay angry for too long, it becomes exhausting and I get depressed. It burns itself out. I don't know how people (whatever their political persuasion) can function when their anger is constantly burning white hot. It can't be good for your soul.
