On this whole Imus thing...

I won't rehash this whole thing because I think everybody knows what happened by now. What Imus said was stupid and mean, but that's pretty typical for him. But how many people have died because of something Imus said? Nobody. Now contrast that with the number of people who have died because of things Al Sharpton said.

I still have mixed feelings over the whole Imus ordeal. Part of me believes he's getting what he deserves and the other part of me thinks its really that big of a deal. If you haven't seen it already, you should check out this story over at Highbrid Nation. The guy who wrote it worked at WFAN with Imus and gives some interesting insight into whether the man is really a racist or not. You all should check it out if you get a chance.

Hi Evorgleb,

Point well taken. I knew Imus was an a-hole, but I wasn't sure if he was actually racist or not. According to the guy the worked a WFAN, it sounds like Imus is racist, too.

Way back a long time ago, I used to watch Imus on MSNBC while getting ready for work because he was somewhat amusing. However, his shtick got old fast.

But Al Sharpton has no credibility in criticizing and demanding apologies from anyone. He is also a racist and, unlike Imus, his rhetoric and demagoguery have actually led to people being murdered.

The best way to handle this would be for Sharpton, Jackson and Imus to leave the public spotlight for good. All three are annoying, loud mouth bigots and make public discourse in America far worse.

Hi Donnie,

I have to agree with you there. Well, it looks like Imus will be out of the public spotlight since he's been fired by CBS. I have a feeling his career is pretty much over. Sharpton and Jackson got their pound of flesh.

I wish those two race-baiting attention whores would similarly be disgraced out of public life. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon.
