I just wanted to put up a more positive post than the previous one...
My faith is much less shaky now. I went to church and took Holy Communion for the first time in about a month. Since then, I have really felt as though I have been drawing strength from God and I feel more hopeful. I have been reading the Bible every day. I had forgotten how much it helps your faith to read just a little of God's Word each day. I have also been praying much more.
I should have my PC again by the end of next week. It turns out the motherboard had gone bad. They are ordering a new one and will replace it. The PC is still under warranty, so it should not cost me anything. I'm so relieved that the source of the problem was finally found. Until I get the PC back, I'm fine with using the iBook.
My back is no longer acting up. However, since last weekend, the awful heartburn I get sometimes because of my hiatal hernia has been kicking up. (Lifting the PC repeatedly may have brought it on.) It's very gradually getting better. I've been eating small meals and have been trying to avoid stuff that aggravates it. On the up side, I've lost almost 10 pounds since last week. I'm going to try to continue that trend even after the heartburn goes away. In general, I'm trying to establish more healthy habits and take care of myself more.
I want to thank everyone who has prayed for me...I deeply appreciate it. :-)
Sorry for being a downer, but it's the truth. I got my computer back, but I had to put it in the shop for a second time. I brought it home Tuesday. They said they could find nothing wrong except that there was a lot of dust in the computer's innards. They said this was probably making it overheat. So they cleaned the dust out, showed me it was working and I brought it home. I plugged everything back in again, tried it and...it didn't work. The fan and lights come on, but the computer does not boot. It doesn't beep and show the BIOS information or anything. I unplugged each device to make sure that there was no device causing the problem. I tried taking it off the UPS, using different outlets, a different power cord...anything I could think of.
So I took it back this morning and I brought my monitor as well so that they could rule that out. (I knew there was no problem with the monitor, but I had to convince them of that.) They saw what it was doing, so at least now they believe me. I hope and pray they can find what's wrong.
My back is acting up again from having to lug the PC around back and forth to the shop and around the house trying different outlets. I've also been trying to keep waves of depression from sweeping me under and I've been very fatigued. There are other problems that I won't go into as well. I've generally felt unhealthy lately. I'm trying to stick to my diet and remember to take my vitamins. I think when I eat better (that is more fruits and vegetables) I feel better. I drink V8 juice if I don't feel like eating salads or vegetables.
My ability to concentrate is nil right now. It takes me much longer to get things done at work than it should.
Right now, my faith is a bit shaky. If you are so inclined, say a little prayer for me. Thank you.
In lieu of actual blogging, here's some funny MST3K-related stuff from YouTube. There is a lot more than this, of course. Somebody posted the entire Jack Frost episode on there, which I need to watch before it gets taken down or something. (It's not yet on DVD and it is one of a handful of Sci-Fi era episodes I never got a chance to tape.)
BTW, sorry for the lack of blogging...I've just been tired and busy. Also, my main PC is in the shop and I've been using the iBook that runs off the Firewire drive. My Internet connection is sometimes really slow. I was using Firefox on the iBook, but it's so sluggish, I decided to go back to using Camino. Now where were we...
Oh, yeah...
First, while this is not MST3K, this features a movie that made one of the funniest episodes ever. Somebody made a trailer for Prince of Space:
Now, here are some scenes from MST3K's episode featuring Prince of Space:
There's more after the jump...
Here are Mike and the 'Bots riffing on a South African stinker called Space Mutiny:
Finally, here's a clip from the MST3K episode featuring a truly goofy Italian "superhero" movie called Pumaman:
Just an FYI...my main PC is having a lot of problems right now. It's the same problem I've been having for months off and on -- it either will not boot (the BIOS doesn't even come up) or it hangs soon after booting. I've been getting by with it because I didn't have the problem all the time. However, it's gotten much worse over the past couple of weeks and now I cannot bring my computer up long enough to do anything...that is if it boots at all. I suspect it is either a video card problem (I've gotten some weird errors that have led me to believe this) or a memory problem. I guess I'm going to finally have to break down and put it in the shop.
I can still use my iBook, which I run off an external firewire drive because the hard drive is flaky. I will probably not be checking my email as much over the next few days, so if you email me, be patient.
This one seems about right. If some of the questions were worded differently, I may have answered differently. For example, I would have agreed with question 3 if it would have stopped with the first sentence...the second sentence was the deal-breaker.
You Are 52% Feminist
You aren't a total traditionalist when it comes to gender roles. But you're no feminist either.
You generally think that women should be treated as equals, but you're not convinced the world should be gender neutral.
Then I took the following long quiz that I saw over at Barb's. I don't know much about Jane Austen. I could have just as easily gotten Barb's result -- Elinor Dashwood -- but answering a tie-breaker question resulted in this:
Elizabeth Bennet, As one of Austen's most beloved characters, Elizabeth Bennet represents what most women would like to become: strong, independent, and loyal. Of course, she has her faults including a stubborn will of iron and a clinging to first impressions. Overall, Lizzie is bright and lovable...something to admire and aspire to.
