Daring to Hope

For the first time, I'm feeling excited and hopeful about the McCain ticket. His choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is perfect -- probably the best decision he has made so far. I'm especially encouraged by the bumbling response from the Obama campaign. Obama manages to insult small-town America and do the pot-kettle thing, since he has no foreign policy experience either and yet he wants to be President. (At least Governor Palin has executive experience.) Social conservatives will be happy to know that she is solidly pro-life and walks the walk. She also adds some much needed youth to the McCain ticket.

McCain/Palin may just win this thing yet...

I'm excited about Palin too.

How are you doing physically? I have been praying for you even though I didn't comment on your other post.

Hey, thanks for the link. Have been praying for you, too.

Hi Barb & Pauli,

It's getting better. It still hurts and I still have numbness in that area of my shin. (I hope I don't have nerve damage or something.) But I was able to go grocery shopping today. I went back to work this past Monday and used a cane the first few days (especially when going up and down the stairs), but didn't need it by Friday. My left leg doesn't have all its strength back yet, but it's stronger than it was a week ago. Hopefully, by this time next week, it will be completely healed.

Thank you both for your prayers! :-)

On the topic of Sarah Palin -- I can't get over how brilliant this pick and the timing of it was. It completely stole Obama's post-speech, post-convention thunder. The leftards are desperate and flailing, showing just how trashy and vulgar they are with their attacks on Palin and her family.

Palin is being trashy and vulgar... I was appalled to hear this clip where Sara Palin laughs when a talk radio announcer calls one of her political rivals "a b**** and a cancer". The woman referred to is a cancer survivor.

Yeah, she walks the talk.

She *CHOSE* to take her pregnancy to term.

CHOICE is what makes her a hero to people like you.

Hoo boy... **rolling eyes**

Deena,

So what? She giggled when a radio host called someone she doesn't like a "bitch". I probably would have done the same before I could stop myself. It's a very human reaction (which she apologized for), to be sure, although I agree it was a political misstep. I realize you are not allowed to be human in politics...one must be godlike, like the Obamessiah.

GoB,

What is this "people like me" crap? Those who disagree with abortion? Yes, I'll admit that I think Gov. Palin's choice took character...she could have aborted the "defective" child and nobody would have been the wiser. I don't know if I'd use the word "hero" or not because that word has been thrown around so much that it almost has no meaning anymore.

And, FWIW, I've had two relatives (both passed away now) with Down's Syndrome.

BTW, I will approve your trackback this one time even though you didn't bother to link my post. What can I say...I feel generous today. ;-)

sorry I missed your "whole lotta pain" post. I hope you're doing okay.

CHOICE is what makes her a hero to people like you.

Yes, every decision is a choice, isn't it? But she's only admired insofar as she made the RIGHT choice.

Hi Bill...great to see you! :-)

I'm continuing to heal. There's still some soreness and stiffness and I still have numbness on my shin. But it is getting better.

On the topic of Palin...indeed that is the whole point. She made the right, moral choice, rather than the expedient choice.

Also, I found out today that a liberal relative, one who I know is smarter than this, still believes that ridiculous lie that Palin's baby is really her teenage daughter's baby. I was not around when said relative was repeating this hateful and downright stupid slander. All I can say is that this relative better not say this crap in my presence. And that I pray that this relative will snap out of it. ("It" being believing anything that comes out of the fever swamps of the left.)
