Rave On!

I have to post about this because it is so awesome. But yet not totally unexpected...

Via this post by Dawn Eden, I found out that the Raving Atheist has been reborn as the Raving Theist. Like I said, call it intuition, but I somehow knew this would happen eventually. This news has made me feel joyful all day, even though things are difficult for me right now.

Of course, his atheist readers are reacting with ridicule, outrage and incredulity. Jesus Himself has the appropriate response to that (Matthew 5:10-12):

"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

The Holy Spirit keeps working! Helps me to feel that if I pray for those unconverted I know, my prayers will not be in vain.

Hi Barb,

I look at some people and think they are a hopeless case. I remember running across the Raving Atheist's blog many years ago. He was as hardcore an atheist as you could find. Just like the commenters at his blog now deriding him, he was mean and bitter. I believe I prayed for him then, but felt it would take a miracle for him to change.

Then, years later, I saw another side of him at Dawn Eden's blog...his genuine concern for the sanctity of life. My view towards him softened. I would always pray for him when he would post on Dawn's blog.

Now with his conversion, I know that there is hope even for the most hardcore people on his site -- even the ones ridiculing him on a post about helping pregnant women with a debilitating disorder.

My sister has been saying she is an atheist or an agnostic for several years. She used to be a believer. Actually, I think she still is. Like many atheists, I think she is more angry at God (and embittered at the actions of certain "Christians") than disbelieving. However, lately she has been talking about possibly going back to church again. She says she wants to have faith, but she doesn't know how. So I'm going to keep praying for her.
